Letter, 10 Mar. 1888, containing Davis’ application to Edward T. Bruen as Secretary of the Medical Staff for the position of Attending Obstetrician at Philadelphia Hospital. Davis describes his medical training and experience in obstetrics.

Biographical / Historical
Edward Parker Davis, obstetrician, was born near Syracuse, N.Y., on 16 Sept. 1856. He died in Philadelphia on 2 Oct. 1937 of myocarditis and arteriosclerosis. Davis received an A.B. from Princeton University in 1879, then medical degrees from Rush Medical College, 1882, and Jefferson Medical College, 1888. He was appointed Obstetrical Registrar at Philadelphia Hospital in 1887, was Obstetrician to Philadelphia Hospital and Jefferson Medical College Hospital, and was, at Jefferson, medical director of the Maternity Department and Professor of Obstetrics. He was also Consultant to the Preston Retreat. Davis was a member of the American Gynecological Society and became its president in 1910. He was elected to fellowship in the College of Physicians of Philadelphia in 1888 and resigned in 1925.
