Biographical / Historical

George Thomas, Chester Co., Quaker physician and horticulturalist and nephew of physician Jonas Preston, was born on 9 Sept. 1808. He attended Westtown School and received an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1829 but did not practice medicine. Dr. Thomas married Anna Mary Townsend in 1841. He died of angina pectoris at Whitford on 26 Sept. 1887.
