This collections contains pages from a scrapbook compiled by J.F. McClendon. The bulk of the material consists of photographs and biographies of notable doctors and scientists, interspersed with advertisements for medicines and other healthcare products. The six folders in this collection are arranged in alphabetical order by last name with the last folder labeled as ‘Men of Science R.H.H.’ The collection was discovered during a survey in the summer and fall of 2015.

Volume documenting medical practice of Job Leonard in Windham Co., Vt., 1814-1821; some accounts settled as late as 1823. Begins in ledger format, then changes to daybook format in Dec. 1817. Lists patient name, reason for visit, prescriptions, and settlement of accounts. Includes supplementary folder of receipts and miscellaneous financial papers, 1818-1843.

This collection consists of two daybooks, 1835 Feb. 1-1839 Aug.
25, and 1839 Aug. 26-1845 Dec. 31, describing the medical practice
of John A. Hyde in Freeport, Maine. The daybook entries are
chronological and provide the patient's name, a brief description
of the medical treatment, and the charge involved; for a birth,
the sex of the child is also provided. At the end of the entries
for each year, Hyde lists his annual earnings and the number

The collection consists of an autographed letter signed, 28 Mar. 1793, from Dr. John Andrews in Philadelphia, Pa. to Dr. James Hollingshead in Northhampton. Dr. Andrews was responding to Dr. Hollingshead’s request for smallpox vaccine. Dr. Andrews wrote the letter while training at the Philadelphia Almshouse (later Philadelphia General Hospital), and in the letter, he comments on the general character of the patients he treats.
