Notes taken from lectures by William Darrach at the University of Pennsylvania by C. G. Strohecker, 1845-1846. Notes are on diseases, including influenza, yellow fever, dropsy, typhus fever, small pox, and various inflammations. The volume includes some color illustrations and a syllabus of Dr. Darrach's lectures. There are also a number of poems at the back of the volume.

Holograph essay defines dropsy and cites three cases of an anomalous form of the disease which Kane
had seen while in residence at Philadelphia Hospital (18401841).
Kane maintains that this "local dropsy"
does not occur with typical symptoms or respond to accepted treatment. Essay addressed to the U.S.

One volume of notes on Chapman’s lectures on the practice of medicine. Internal references to Dr. Jackson, Professor of Practice, in Boston, and Dr. Physick’s recent experiments, imply a date prior to 1835. Lectures include diseases of the digestive and respiratory systems, dropsy, scrofula, and marasmus. Cullen’s classification of diseases is listed on the verso of the title page.
