Overview Robley Dunglison was born in Keswick, England, on 4 January 1798. He attended the Royal College of Surgeons in 1818, received a license as surgeon apothecary from the Society of Apothecaries, and began practice in 1819. In 1823, he received an M.D. from the University of Erlangen. From 1823 to 1833, Dunglison was professor of medicine at the University of Virginia; from 1833 to 1836, he was professor of medicine at the University of Maryland. Scope and Contents This small collection documents the medical education of William L. Challiss at Jefferson Medical College, 1847-1848. The collection contains one matriculation card for the 18481849 academic session and admission cards to the lectures of Franklin Bache, Robley Dunglison, Robert M. Huston, Charles D. Meigs, John K.
