Organized into three series: I. Addresses, 1947-1959. II. Radio interviews, 1946 and 1949. III. Pamphlet[1958]. Each series arranged chronologically.
The collection contains typescripts of addresses, 1947-1959, transcripts of radio interviews, 1946 and 1949, and a pamphlet, [1958], documenting the public life of Clair Eisenhard Bauer. Series 1 contains typescripts of three addresses given by Mrs. Bauer. The first was given at the memorial service for Mrs. Bessie Dobson Altemus on 22 Oct. 1947. The address was a tribute on behalf of the Women’s Board of Jefferson Medical College Hospital. Mrs. Altemus had been chair of the board. Mrs. Bauer gave the second address, ’The Romance of "1010,"' at the annual meeting of the Nurses’ Home Committee at Jefferson Medical College Hospital on 16 Apr. 1959. The address briefly narratives the history of the Nurses’ Home. The final address was given by Mrs. Bauer at the annual meeting on 20 Apr. 1961 of the Student Nurses’ Residence Department of the Women’s Board of the Jefferson Medical College Hospital. This address includes some history of the nursing program at the hospital.
Transcripts of radio interviews are in Series 2. Both interviews took place at Philadelphia, Pa. radio stations and concerned Jefferson Medical College Hospital. The first concerned the hospital as a whole and the second the hospital’s nursing program.
The third series contains a pamphlet written by Mrs. Bauer that discusses aging. The pamphlet was first printed as an article in the periodical Clubwoman’s Journal (1957 Dec.-1958 Jan.).
