Scope and Contents The City of Philadelphia, which holds archival materials from Philadelphia General Hospital, donated this collection of nearly 1,200 photographs to the College in 1978. The collection includes photographs of the buildings, physicians, residents, and patients.

Overview The Sturgis Photograph Collection was donated to the College in the early 1980s by Doctors Katharine R. and Samuel B. Sturgis. It contains a large number of the College's pictures and oversize documents (diplomas, certificates, etc.). The subjects of the materials range from portraits of physicians, early hospital buildings, group photographs of medical societies, and class photographs of medical school students, to lecture matriculation cards and medical illustrations. Scope and Contents During the first World War the Canadian Expeditionary Forces (CEF) were particularly concerned with the number of cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs, then called venereal disease).
