Biographical / Historical
William Gerry Morgan, gastroenterologist, was born in Newport, N.H., on 2 May 1868. He received an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1893. Morgan died in Washington, D.C., on 7 July 1949. After graduation, Morgan practiced in Southport, Conn., then moved to Washington in 1899. He became professor of gastroenterology at Georgetown University's School of Medicine and was also dean there (1931-1935). Morgan also held posts as consulting physician to the Garfield Memorial, Gallinger, and Georgetown University hospitals.
