This small collection of letters was assembled by Benjamin W.
Austin, often functioning as secretary of the Trinity Historical
Society in Dallas, Texas, 1885-1894. The letters are from physicians,
several of them eclectic or homeopathic, accepting honorary
or non resident membership in the society and responding to
Austin's request for autographs, photographs, and pamphlets.

The Pillsbury Collection consists of correspondence received, filed
alphabetically by author from national and international figures
working in dermatology. A comprehensive list with name of correspondent,
date of letter, and origin of letter is included. The correspondence is,
in general, brief and concerns the abstracts and papers delivered

The first extensive autograph collection of Fellows of the American Surgical Association was donated to the Mutter Museum of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia by John B. Roberts in 1903. Roberts had been working on this project for some years. The collection, viewed as an adjunct to a similar photograph collection, was sorted alphabetically and housed in a post binder.
